Live Facial Recognition Deployment 12th June 2026 |
||
|
Please find below the results from our Live Facial Recognition operation on Friday 12th in the Eden Centre, High Wycombe.
Male identified by cameras and arrested for criminal damage. Male identified by cameras and voluntary attendance interview arranged for shoplifting. Male identified avoiding cameras stop checked and found to be wanted for theft. Male identified acting suspiciously near cameras stop checked and arrested for indecent exposure.
Overall feedback from businesses was very positive, with multiple venues reporting a noticeable reduction in theft and an increased sense of safety, largely attributed to our presence and use of Live Facial Recognition (LFR). M&S and Tesco both highlighted no shoplifting incidents, which is unusual for them, and directly linked this to our visibility. MenKind, Superdry, Primark, and Ernest Jones all noted a decline in theft or suspicious activity, with some highlighting that known offenders appeared deterred. Rituals also provided a clear example of deterrence, observing a potential offender reacting to signage and avoiding engagement. Hospitality venues including Zizzi and Nandos expressed that our presence made them feel safer, with Zizzi specifically recognising the value of LFR in identifying known individuals. Wider feedback from Hollywood Bowl, H&M, and others emphasised reassurance, increased confidence, and appreciation of proactive policing, particularly during busy periods such as Safer Streets operations.
If you wish, please provide me any feedback good or bad to inform future deployments. PS 0204 Alex Spencer Wycombe NH Team | ||
